Scrub Daddy scratch my non-stick pan??!

I saw Scrub Daddy on Shark Tank and thought it would be perfect for my pans. I used it once and now my pan's all scratched!! What gives? I thought this thing was supposed to be safe!

Remember when Lori invested in it? 'I'm gonna make it the biggest sponge company in the world!' Bet she didn't count on it alienating the non-stick pan community 😂

Just some piece of advice although you learned it the hard way, non-stick pans are generally very delicate and even the slightest abrasive material can ruin them. Now, the Scrub Daddy is far from the slightest abrasive, it's pretty much Spongebob on steroids, so yeah... it's not the best tool for such pans despite what the company claims.

Leading non-stick pan manufacturers, like T-Fal, recommend cleaning with a soft sponge or a rag, and avoiding anything with rough or hard edges that could cause scratching. This includes any nylon scrubbing brushes or harsh pads like metal scouring pads. These can degrade the non-stick coating over time and reduce its effectiveness.

As for the Scrub Daddy, I'd recommend using it on glassware, ceramics, or other hard surfaces which won’t be damaged by its abrasive texture when chilled.

Yeah, Shark Tank stuff is hit or miss. I bought the Scrub Daddy too. Worked fine for me, but I stuck to my steel pots mainly.

Hey there,

Product tester here. I've tested the Scrub Daddy and while it's advertised as non-scratch, it mostly depends on the type of pans you're using. Non-stick pans have a delicate surface and some of them can scratch easily, even with soft washing materials.

This product is made from FlexTexture material which changes its texture based on the water’s temperature. It can be hard in cold water and soft in warm water. So, keep in mind to use warm water if you want a softer scrub for delicate surfaces.

However, even with these precautions, there can be a small chance for the scrub to scratch your pans especially if you apply too much pressure while cleaning.

An alternative would be using a softer sponge specifically made for non-stick pans, or washing them with a soft cloth and some mild detergent. Remember, the main goal of non-stick pans is to minimize the dependence on scrubbing.

Oh my gosh, same happened to me!! I thought ‘non-scratchy’ means it won't scratch. But hey, live and learn, right?
