I turned my homebrewing hobby into a biz!

Alright, here's how I did it for those curious:

  • Spent years refining my recipes (yes years, this step is key 🔑)
  • Entered local beer fests, got some attention and won a few awards 🏆
  • Local buzz gave me the confidence to go bigger, so started looking for investors
  • Was a tough grind but found a local biz incubator that got me the funds to lease a space
  • Got my licenses, passed health inspections, and setup the brewery (so much paperwork ugh)
  • I focus on small batch, unique flavors that nobody else is doing locally
  • Marketed heavily on social media, local events, and word of mouth
  • Recently opened up a small taproom attached to the brewery for more exposure (pandemic made this tough but we're surviving)

It's not been easy, and I'm not rolling in dough yet, but dude, I'm brewing beer for a living. How cool is that?

Love to see a small biz thriving against the odds, nice job on the taproom! Consider partnerships with local eateries or collabs with other local producers for limited edition brews. Keep the marketing fresh and interactive, maybe even livestream some brewing sessions?

Small batch and unique flavors? Heard that line before. Everybody thinks they're the next craft beer unicorn. Prove me wrong tho, what makes your brews actually different?

Turned a hobby into a biz, eh? Smart moves getting into a biz incubator. Keep a sharp eye on your cash flows in these early stages and don't forget to set aside a chunk for reinvestment. Dry seasons can hit hard, and it's not just talking weather but market changes, so prep for that rainy day fund.

Hey congrats on making the leap from hobby to biz! Curious about the equipment scale-up process—did you face any unexpected challenges there? Also, got any advice for someone about to navigate the fun world of licenses and health inspections?
