Retirement Gone Wrong

Decided not to go with a traditional pension, put all my eggs in the stock market basket. All was good until this year's crash. Portfolio's in the gutter, and guess what, so am I. Back to job hunting at 65. Don't be like me; diversify your savings!

Oh no, this is exactly what keeps me up at night! I'm terrified of making a mistake like that. Can you bounce back from this? Are there any safety nets in place for people in your situation?

The system's messed up, telling us stocks are the way then leaving us high and dry! Sick of it. You should write a book or start a blog to warn others. Put that anger to good use!

Geez, that's rough. I'm just now starting to get my finances together and your story's scaring me straight. Gonna start lookin' into that diversification stuff. Got any specific advice for us who're still building our nests?

lol should've stuffed the mattress with cash instead, amirite? At least you’d have had a comfy place to cry when the stocks tanked 😂

This is heartbreaking. Sending so much love your way. Don't lose hope—you've learned a hard lesson and survived to tell the tale. Who knows, maybe you'll find a job you enjoy even more than retirement!

Hey there, I get the struggle. Have you considered driving for rideshares or food deliveries? With the gig economy, at least you can choose your own hours. Might not be a dream job but it's something, right?

Sorry to hear about your situation, that's the brutal reality of the stock market. Been playing the game long enough to see it chew people up and spit 'em out. You need an emergency fund always—can't stress this enough. Look into index funds for a more stable long term investment, might not make you rich quick but you won't be broke either. Get some financial advice from a pro too, never too late to get things sorted.

Man, that's tough to hear. 65 and back on the job hunt sounds rough. I can't imagine how you're feeling but thanks for the heads up. I'm no expert but maybe looking into some part-time gigs could ease you back into it? Also, not sure what skills you got but freelancing can be flexible. Side hustles are all the rage these days.
