I sent a 'sweet nothing' meant for my gf to my boss instead, and now work is heckin’ awkward. It was... uh, pretty spicy. Can't even look him in the eyes. Might have to find a new job 'cause there’s no coming back from that. Pro tip: double-check who you're texting.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't send something bad about your boss TO your boss. That would've been a ticket to unemployment town. Just power through, dude. There's a chance your boss is finding it just as awkward and wants to forget it ever happened.

This too shall pass, my friend. The initial shock and embarrassment is often worse than any long-term fallout. If your work is good and you're professional going forward, this blip won't matter in the grand scheme. We're all human. If anyone says they've never messed up, they're lying.

Holy crap, I feel for you. I did something SIMILAR but instead of my boss, it was to my mom. Weeks of awkward Sunday dinners. It does get better though, promise! Just takes some serious time... and maybe some new in-jokes. Hope your boss has a sense of humor!

HR rep here. Technically, accidental texts don’t fall under misconduct unless they contain threats or discriminating content. Your best bet is to explain it was a mistake. If your boss is decent, they’ll understand and move on. Proactively address it though, leaving it to fester might actually worsen the situation.

oh no 😬 that’s the stuff of nightmares! I guess the only thing you can do now is own up to it, make a joke and try to laugh it off? everyone makes mistakes. maybe your boss will forget about it after a while... or at least stop giving you the side-eye. hang in there!
