Here's my perfected recipe for a chocolatey treat inspired by Peppa Pig's love for chocolate cake! Great for kiddo parties or any Peppa fan!
Ingredients: - 1¾ cups all-purpose flour - 2 cups sugar - ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder - 1½ teaspoons baking powder - 1½ teaspoons baking soda - 1 teaspoon salt - 2 eggs - 1 cup whole milk - ½ cup vegetable oil - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract - 1 cup boiling water
Frosting: - 1 cup unsalted butter, softened - 3½ cups confectioners' sugar - ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder - ½ teaspoon vanilla extract - 4 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk)
Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). 4. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. 5. Cool for 10 mins; remove from pans to wire racks and cool completely.
For frosting: 1. Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, cocoa, and vanilla. 2. Add heavy cream and beat until desired consistency is reached.
Decorating: - Use fondant to create Peppa Pig characters and muddy puddles. - Assemble the cake and frost it. - Arrange the fondant figures on top.

Professional pastry chef here. I must admit, your recipe is pretty solid for a simple yet delightful chocolate cake. For those upping the ante on presentation, consider using a turntable while frosting for that flawless finish. And if you're not a fan of buttercream, a ganache topping could be a luxurious alternative. Happy baking, folks!

OMG this is such a cute idea for a Peppa Pig party! I totally need to try this for my little one's birthday next month. For the fondant characters, do you think modeling chocolate would work too? Want something that tastes as good as it looks, lol! Also, tip for everyone — use gel food coloring to get those piggy pinks really vibrant! 💖
