Looking to start a warm chat among party tech enthusiasts. Recently bought JBL Boombox and Bose S1 Pro. One thing I noticed is that JBL is thumping with bass, you can feel the music but lacks in mid frequencies and the Bose S1 Pro is more balanced, covers entire frequency range but isn't as loud. For super-bassy genres I tend to use JBL & for acoustic, classical ones I lean towards Bose.

For my beach and pool parties, I love the JBL Boombox. Waterproof feature is a blessing. Plus, 24hrs battery life is hard to beat when you're out there in the sun jamming to your favorite tunes. Bose might be great for an indoor shindig though.

As a DJ, versatility is important. Both speakers have their merits, but the Bose S1 Pro offers more than just a party speaker. Being able to use it as a PA system is a winner for me. Also, the inbuilt EQ and reverb are critical for tailoring the sound to various gigs and environments. JBL's intense bass suits some genres, true, but there's more to music than just bass.

Been in the audio tech field for nearly a decade and I've always leaned towards Bose. Specifically, for the S1 Pro's clarity across the entire frequency spectrum, you hit the nail on the head there. If you're into audiophile-grade sounds, Bose is a winner. As for JBL, I agree, it just puts out too much bass for my liking. But, hey, to each their own!
