Mario Party without minigames?

If you're answering this, you may refer to Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for the Wii U. You scan your Amiibo card to roll the dice, and you just read text, and no minigames. I hate AC:AF.

The only way I can see a Mario Party without minigames working is if they seriously ramped up the strategy element. Maybe putting more emphasis on board game tactics, but then wouldn't that be a different genre entirely?

While Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival didn't sit well with many, a minigame-less Mario Party could potentially explore other narrative or strategic elements. However, I wouldn't hold my breath. Minigames are integral to the Mario Party experience, serving both as a skill equalizer and an excitement generator.

A Mario Party game sans minigames would basically not be Mario Party. It's iconic for those hilarious and wild minigames that get everyone screaming at the TV. Would totally be a no for me too!

Back in my day, Mario Party was all about those intense button-mashing minigames and the pure joy (and rage) they brought. Can't even fathom why they'd remove the minigames. It's like tearing the soul out of the game. Why fix what ain't broken, right?

I haven't played AC:AF, but no minigames in a party game sounds pretty boring to me. Isn't the whole point of these games to compete in funny little challenges?

Mario Party with no minigames would be like Zelda without Link. Better yet, let's have smash bros without the bros, just Smash 🤪

Honestly, Mario Party without minigames would seriously miss the mark. The minigames are where all the fun and chaos happens, and it's really what sets it apart from other board games. Just can't see how it would work without them.

Yeah, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival was a massive letdown. I can't even imagine a Mario Party game without the minigames. It’s like the whole point of it. Just rolling dice with no action in between? Nah, hard pass.
