LazyTown's Sports Candy Recipe

Fam, if you're trying to sneak some more fruit into your kid's diet, do it LazyTown style with some 'sports candy' (aka fruit)! Here’s a quick recipe to make fruit fun:

Sports Candy (Fruit) Kebabs:

  • Skewers
  • Selection of fruit: strawberries, grapes, melon, etc.
  • Small cookie cutters (star, heart shapes)

  • Cut the melon or other large fruits with the cookie cutters into fun shapes.

  • Thread the different fruits onto the skewers, alternating types and colors.
  • Watch your little ones devour them as they pretend to be Sportacus on another adventure!

Lol, if your kid needs fruit to be skewered and shaped to eat it, wait 'til they learn vegetables exist. Good luck with that one. Good idea though, maybe start shaping broccoli into little trees next?

This is great for parties! Also, for a bit more variety, some veggies like cucumber or jicama can stand in nicely for crunch. Called them 'rainbow sticks' at my kid's party and they were a hit with both the kids and parents. It's about making healthy eating a fun part of life early on 😊

Hey this is sweet! Instead of fighting with the kids to eat their fruit, turn it into an activity they can help with. They'll be way more into eating something they made themselves. Pro tip: a little bit of yogurt to dip them in doesn't hurt either.

Kinda on the fence about this. My policy is to let fruits speak for themselves without making them into gimmicks. They’re perfectly packaged by Mother Nature, no need for skewers and shapes. Just eat them as they are! Plus, less waste without the skewers. You ever think about where all those wooden sticks end up? 🌎

Not a fan of the term 'candy', even if it's for fruit. Kids need to learn that fruit isn't a treat; it's just a normal part of a healthy diet. But I get the angle. It's a solid method to make fruit more attractive. Maybe call it 'energy sticks' or something less sugary-sounding?

OMG, the cookie cutter idea is genius! 💡 I have tons of those in different shapes for making cute sandwiches and stuff. Never thought to use them on fruit! If you make a small incision in the fruit before pushing the cookie cutter through, it makes it WAY easier! And sometimes, as a special treat, I add a marshmallow on top of the kebab to make it extra appealing for the kiddos.

This is brilliant! LazyTown was my jam growing up, and it's so cool to see the next gen getting into Sportacus' epic health habits. Gonna make these with my nieces and see if they start jumping around doing those wild acrobatics, hahaha!

Love this idea! I've been trying to get my kids to eat healthier and this might just do the trick. Gonna try it for my son's birthday party as a healthy treat option. I bet even the pickiest eaters won't be able to resist fruit when it's this fun, LOL!
