Exhibition at the Meadowhall Gallery

For those who haven't yet ventured to the gallery space next to House of Fraser – do it. Current exhibit features local artists and lemme tell ya, the talent is mind-blowing. There's this one piece, a mixed media painting of the Sheffield landscape, that's a must-see. Buy something if you can to support the art scene!

I must say, the lighting in the gallery complements the pieces perfectly. Most don't realize how crucial good lighting is for viewing art. And yes, that mixed media painting blew me away too. It captures the essence of Sheffield’s industrial backdrop with such emotion. Would be great if the gallery would do some evening events as well, imagine those pieces under subtle spotlights!

It's spaces like the Meadowhall Gallery that give us struggling artists a beacon of hope. If you purchased something, you’re not just buying art, you’re giving artists like me a chance to pursue our passion. Big shout-out to anyone who supports local talent! 🖤

Art. Yeah right. Just a bunch of paint splashed on canvas that looks like my toddler's work. Cash better spent elsewhere #SorryNotSorry

As one of the exhibiting artists, reading this made my day! 🎨 We pour our hearts into our work, and every visitor, every bit of feedback, and every purchase (no matter how small) really boosts the community. Hope to see some from this sub there!

Sounds cool but I never really got art galleries. Might check it out if I’m passing through though.

Visited last week and I have mixed feelings. Some of the pieces were indeed impressive. However, I found the curation a bit lacking. The flow between artworks felt disjointed. That said, the oils and acrylics section was thoughtfully put together. We should indeed support local artists, but I believe constructive criticism is also a way to support and encourage growth in the art community.

Totally agree about the talent on display! There’s something really poignant about seeing Sheffield through the eyes of those who know it best. The textures in that landscape piece you mentioned were incredible, felt like you could walk straight into it.
