Thought of the Day: Medium Fries > Large Fries?

Hello folks, I was just getting my usual the other day and something hit me. Does anyone else feel like the medium fries taste better than the large??? 🤔 Is it just me or do they have more salt/crispiness? Feels weird, anyone else agree?

Bro, you're not alone 😂. My friends think I'm crazy but I swear the medium fries are the best ones. They're nice and crispy, always got just the right amount of salt... I dunno, they just hit different, ya know? 👌

Your observation isn't unsubstantiated. Perception of food, especially something as subjective as taste, can be heavily influenced by size, shape and packaging. When we eat fries, it's not just about the taste, it's about the entire gastronomic experience. Perhaps, the medium size just gives the perfect experience of the ideal McDonald's fries: Crisp, satisfactorily salty, and just the right temperature.

McDonald's worker guy here. Interesting theory but honestly, it's the same fries. Larges get more obviously, and they take a little longer to go through since we fill the containers more. Maybe because of that they might get a bit less crispy, but honestly, haven't heard about this before.

Actually, there's no difference in the fries themselves, it's all about the ratio of surface to volume. Smaller portion means they tend to cool down faster once they are out of the fryer, causing them to stay crispy longer. That's why you perceive the medium ones as more crispy.

I feel u bro, there's deffo something different about medium fries. They always seem a bit more, idk, crispy? Maybe it's cuz they get cooked a lil more in the smaller container. 🍟💯
