Been thinking a lot bout Rosalina's backstory lately, like her whole deal with the cosmos and the Comet Observatory. There's gotta be more to it right? The storybook in Galaxy was so touching, but it left so much unsaid. Any of u guys got theories or headcanons??

In my perspective, Rosalina is a cosmic entity that transcends the traditional Mario characters. Her ethereal existence and maternal role regarding the Lumas suggest she has existed for eons, laden with knowledge and stories far beyond our comprehension. The observatory is not simply a hub for gameplay purposes but her sanctuary, a homage to the vastness of space and her role as a shepherd to the stars. Her story in the storybook is deliberately incomplete to encourage us to wonder and theorize, adding a layer of depth to Mario's universe.

Rosalina's origin is quite mysterious, but here's my take. Rosalina and the Lumas are possibly from a different dimension where they govern the laws of the Mario universe. Her observatory navigates through these dimensions, which ties into how Mario can travel to different galaxies with different physics at play. Also, the fact that she has this ethereal appearance suggests to me that Rosalina tapped into some hidden cosmic power which altered her state of being. Her mother in the storybook might be a symbolic representation of a planet or even the universe, indicating Rosalina's ascension from a planetary protector to a guardian of galaxies.

So, look, Rosalina is basically space mom right? Her storybook is all about losing her family and then finding a new one with the Lumas. I always kinda seen it as a way to show how people can find family in the most unexpected places. Maybe Nintendo just wanted to give us a character that shows that it’s not the end even when you lose something precious...like a metaphor for hope and stuff.

There's a profound theory I've read where Rosalina is considered the guardian of the universe, akin to a celestial deity in the Mario lore. Going deeper, her connection with the Lumas is symbolic of cosmic creation myths – she ushers new stars and possibly even galaxies into existence. The Comet Observatory isn't just her home, it's a vessel of life and creation, traveling through space and time. I think it's possible that Rosalina was an ordinary inhabitant of the Mushroom Kingdom who encountered a Luma in distress, and through her kindness and willpower, was transcended into a higher cosmic being. Her backstory might remain vague to keep her character shrouded in mystery and intrigue.
