Yo, I'm working on documenting the full history of the Koopalings, from their first appearance in SMB3 to their most recent appearances. My data includes everything - game appearances, changes in their designs, their roles in various settings, and personality traits. I'm also looking for any obscure sources like manga or guidebook lore. If you have anything lesser-known or international content related to them, please share!

I started out making a similar compilation! For a real deep dive, the instruction booklets from the older games are gold mines. Like, did you know they each had their own airship design in SMB3? Plus, in different regions, the booklets sometimes had extra tidbits not found elsewhere - might be worth comparing if you’re aiming for comprehensive!

Anyone else remember the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 show? The Koopalings had some crazy episodes there lol. Gotta love Cheatsy’s schemes (Lemmy's cartoon name). This kinda stuff actually adds a lot to how they were seen back in the day, and diff from the game mechanics and looks we see now in the more recent stuff!

To really dissect their designs, don't miss out on their subtle changes throughout the years, like how Morton’s face paint was different between the game sprites and the official artwork initially, and how Iggy’s glasses kept changing shape. The devil's in the details for sure.

Historian here. Don't forget to cover their transformation in New Super Mario Bros. Wii compared to older games - the unique abilities they started to show like Ludwig's flutter jump or Roy's ground pound. Also, how they were removed as Bowser's children in the lore. And would recommend touching on their expansion in the Mario spin-off games like kart racing, sports, etc.

International Content: In Japan, there's this rare Super Mario-kun manga where the Koopalings show up and they're pretty wild. Their personalities are all exaggerated and it's hilarious to see them interact with each other. Worth getting your hands on if you can for your project. Try import shops or online auctions!

Pretty sure you've seen this but just in case - the Koopalings all had different names in the Super Mario Bros 3 cartoon compared to the games. Like, Morton was called Big-Mouth and Ludwig was Kooky. Might be a fun fact for your history doc!
