The Amazing Adventures of Bioman (in Portuguese as As incríveis aventuras de Bioman and in Spanish as Las increíbles aventuras de Bioman) is a 2013 Portuguese-Australian cartoon that also had a presence in Latin America.
The series was entirely 2D, and everything was outline-less, just like graphic illustrations. The series followed Bioman, a superhero who started life as a normal boy but once he eats a healthy snack, he becomes Bioman.
The series lasted for 52 episodes, and each episode focused on Bioman solving a problem or a mystery. I remember watching 1 episode where Bioman tampered with broken traffic lights to make it work.
If I remember correctly, none of the episodes have been resurfaced and only the show's English poster has resurfaced, with a release date of "January 1, 2013".

I've done a bit of digging myself on Bioman since it's such an odd case of lost media. No digital footprint is quite rare these days. Forum posts from back then barely mention it. But get this — I found a Brazilian blog post with a guy who claims he has a DVD set. Tried contacting but no reply. Anybody else heard of this or am I chasing ghosts here?

Actually, I recall there being some legal trouble surrounding the show, copyright issues or something. It might explain the scarcity of the episodes. If I'm not mistaken, the snack company that was a sponsor had a fallout with the production company.

There was. Ricolino has a presence in Portugal. They produced all 52 episodes of the series, and then they got a lawsuit with Teatime Productions, the distributor and animator of the series. They stated that due to high problems, all 52 episodes would be wiped for reusing and the whole series would be lost media.

Man, I'd give anything to watch that episode with the traffic lights again. Used to be the highlight of my weekends. These legal disputes really rob fans of the joy these shows bring. Can't someone just 'find' an episode? There’s got to be someone out there who knows something, right? 😔

It's not just about the companies, but also about creator's rights. Ricolino and Teatime may have had serious disagreements on intellectual property - hence the legal action. 'Wiping' the episodes may sound drastic, but if there's a violation it may be the only legal option at their disposal. More than anything, it's tragic that the fate of 'Bioman' rests in legal limbo. If any episodes ever do resurface, they'll become instant collector's items for sure. For now, let's keep our eyes peeled for any leaked material or storyboards from the original team. That's our best bet.

lol imagine eating a healthy snack and turning into a superhero, didn't think the show'd be that literal 😂 but seriously, wiping episodes feels overkill, just upload em on a torrent and let the fans keep it alive if the corps couldn't figure it out.

Anyone knows why they didn't settle outta court? Seems like all parties just shot themselves in the foot by wiping the whole series. Bioman could've continued making them cash if they'd found a compromise. Really a shame when creative projects get axed over legal drama. 😒

Lmao wiped? Yeah right, someone out there hoarding all 52 eps like dragon treasure, just waiting to drop it all on eBay or some underground trade site. There's no way something 'that popular' disappears off the face of the earth, c'mon people, think!

bioman was my childhood! remember the ep with the giant mechanical shark? legendary stuff. totally tragic to think my kids might never see what was a huge part of my afterschool routine. does anyone remember the name of the main voice actor? his voice was iconic.

Yeah, the lawsuit between Ricolino and Teatime Productions was a pretty big deal back then, overshadowed most of the show's initial hype. Sucks that legal disputes literally erased Bioman from existence. The fact that zero episodes are out there is just a testament to how brutal media rights battles can be. This series would’ve been a prime piece for any animation enthusiast's collection, easy.

This series seems like quite the find. I've been tracking lost media for years and Bioman has come up in discussions but always ends in a dead end. Have you checked with national libraries or archives in Portugal and Australia? They sometimes have copies of media for preservation even if it was never released to the public. Also might be worth reaching out to the original creators on social media, maybe one of them has a lead!

Yes. One of the universities in Perth, Australia states that they're in process of digitalizing all 52 episodes of Bioman in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and they're soon uploading it to Dailymotion.

Digitalizing old shows is no easy feat, especially without the original masters. Curious 'bout the specs - will they be cleaning it up to HD? And what 'bout aspect ratios? Hate when they mess that up. Also, will they deal with potential copyright issues before they throw 'em up on Dailymotion? That could seriously delay the upload or worse, take 'em down as fast as they go up.

Wow, that's awesome news! Really hope the uni follows through with it. Been dying to watch Bioman since I saw a snippet on a retro cartoon blog. Fingers crossed they get the quality right with the digitalization, some of these projects can be pretty hit or miss.
