These were the TV shows that aired on Nickelodeon. Both of them were lost.
The first one, Nick Flicks, was a programming block-like TV series that would often air marathons of movies, both Nickelodeon and non-Nickelodeon, during the late 90s and early 2000s. Nickel Flicks was an inaugural TV series showing cliffhanger short movies, airing in 1979.
Both shows are fully lost, none of the episodes have surfaced.

I’ve got boxes of old tapes but, like, no list of what's on them. Never catalogued them cause it was just my weekend fun as a kid. I'll make an effort to go thru them this summer. Who knows, maybe I've got a gem hidden in there. No promises, but if I find anything Nick related, I'll totally let you all know. Crossing fingers!

Technically, it's possible that some sort of digitization effort was made at the time but never published. Some networks started migrating content to digital in the late 90s but held onto the physical originals. Say someone's sitting on an old Nickelodeon hard-drive at HQ or in a storage unit, unlabelled, gathering dust... Hey, stranger things have happened, right?

Honestly, you guys are chasing ghosts. Back then, nobody thought to preserve that kind of content. Why would they? It was filler tv, not prime time material. The chances that somebody deliberately recorded and kept these shows, particularly the cliffhangers from '79, are slim to none.

Any1 think to check old TV guide issues or newspapers? those could have info that leads to finding recordings, like special one-time broadcasts or something. And what about contacting broadcasters directly, maybe someone's got leads there.

Lol didn’t even know these existed. How much lost stuff is out there from the 90s tv? 📺😅

Nick Flicks, for example, was a TV show that took form of a programming block. Each show would feature hosts talking about the current movie to be played and then the full movie would play by itself. There were idents of the block style show surfaced.

Does anyone remember what kind of non-Nick movies they showed on Nick Flicks? I know the focus was supposed to be on Nickelodeon content, but I swear I first saw 'The NeverEnding Story' on there.

I remember watching it and they would show Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Home Alone during Christmas.

Eh, might be misremembering but were these really 'lost'? Feels like someone somewhere has got to have recordings. Maybe they're just not looking hard enough or they're hoarding them. I mean who didn't have a VCR back then? Someone upload that stuff already!

Indeed, Nick Flicks had an eclectic selection sometimes. Besides 'The NeverEnding Story', 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids', and 'Home Alone', I distinctly recall 'Matilda' and 'Hook'. They were probably trying to appeal to a wider audience, grabbing anything that teens from the 90s would find cool. It's hard to find concrete information about it now, especially since it's lost media, but those holiday specials were something else. If anyone's got the tapes, please, for the love of nostalgia, digitize 'em!

Omg Nickel Flicks was my JAM! Seriously, after school, that was the highlight of my day. It's such a bummer that there's like no trace of it now. I'd do anything to see those cliffhanger shorts again... If only my parents had kept our VHS tapes, who knows what gold we might've had.

Yeah, some bits and pieces of Nick Flicks still exist out there. Kind of crazy that even with the massive original content from that era, so much of it can just disappear into thin air, right? I dug around on some old tape trading forums and some folks claim they got recordings but they never come through with the goods. We gotta keep digging!

Here’s a thought—have we reached out to libraries and universities? There's a possibility that these could've been donated or archived in less obvious places. Film students might've used clips for projects or local TV archives could have copies. It’s a needle in a haystack, but with enough eyes, we might just find something. If anyone lives near a major university with a film program, maybe take an afternoon to check their archives?

This is truly a deep cut, I’ve been on the search for Nickel Flicks for years, those cliffhangers were part of what got me into film. The fact that nothing has surfaced is bizarre and kinda haunts me. Been combing through old forum posts and contacting former Nickelodeon employees, no luck yet but fingers crossed 🤞I refuse to believe there's nothing out there.

Oh man, Nick Flicks was my childhood! I remember those marathons vividly but never recorded any... Really hoping someone out there has them and just doesn't know how rare they are. It’s like a treasure hunt for a piece of childhood. Wish I could help but I'm just another seeker in the sea of lost media!
