Bizarre Screamer on old Japanese Game Show??

ok so i was watching some retro game show clips on this site, and there's this one segment where they play a REALLY high-pitched noise and the contestant freaks out. It’s not a scream but it legit made my ears ring. Has anyone else come across this? Tbh can't even tell if it was intentional or some weird audio error but it was definitely lost media gold.

jesus, that's the kind of thing that'd have me throwing my headphones off. super new to the lost media scene but stuff like what you described is exactly why i'm diving in. can't wait to find craziness like that myself!

That high-pitch noise was probably just the sound of your brain cells crying. Lost media? More like lost time. #GetRekt

This whole thing sounds like an urban legend tbh. You can find strange edits and audio in tons of old recordings, and with Japan's knack for eccentric game shows, there's no limit to the weirdness. Before we jump on the 'lost media gold' bandwagon, let's try to verify the authenticity. If you can share more details or the clip, we'd have something concrete to go on.

i swear i’ve seen something similar. was it this old space-themed show? i remember stuff like that happening, but it was ages ago. searching for lost media is a rabbit hole but so worth it!

Gotta say, sounds more like a glitch in the matrix or a botched audio track when they digitized the footage. Old tapes can do crazy stuff. Still, ‘lost media gold’ for sure—would be dope if you found out what show it was. Or maybe, we've got another Cicada 3301 here? XD

The phenomenon you're describing could potentially be intentional, harking back to the experimental nature of Japanese game shows from the '80s and '90s. Shows like 'Takeshi’s Castle' often included segments meant to disorient and challenge contestants in odd ways. The high-pitched noise could be due to a variety of reasons—audio equipment failure, improper audio encoding during the digitization process, or, as mentioned, an intentional effect. If you could provide the clip or specify the exact show and episode, we might be able to discern more info.

Woah, that sounds wild. Haven’t come across it myself but man, the stuff they used to get away with on those old game shows. Audio error or not, that's the kind of wacky content that makes hunting lost media so addictive. I'd love to know the title of the show or segment!
