ok so there was this game on the original xbox i think, it had robots and you could like customize them and fight in arenas. not mechassault, another one. i need the name for nostalgia's sake, anybody know??

It's definitely 'MechAssault' you're thinking of. That's the one that was all about customizing bots for arena fights. Or maybe 'Robotech: Battlecry'? It had a strong customization angle as well.

Not many remember this gem but check out 'S.L.A.I.: Steel Lancer Arena International' it was super niche but had amazing bot customization. Pretty sure it flew under the radar for most but was such a gem.

Hey, it sounds like you're thinking of 'Metal Arms: Glitch in the System'. The game wasn't centered around customization, but you did fight as a robot in various environments. If it's not that, maybe 'Armor Core' rings a bell? 'Armor Core' franchise had extensive mech customization and was available on Xbox.

could be phantom crash? used to play it a ton, robots were called sv's or sumthin and the arena fights were lit 🔥

Dude, sounds a lot like 'Robotech: Invasion' to me. That game was dope! You got to tweak your ride and blast away in some sick PVP combat if I remember right. Ah, memories...
