Alright otakus, so there's this anime OVA from the late 80s called 'Crystal Sakura', supposedly it had like some of the most beautiful animation of its time but only got a limited release in Japan before disappearing. Some say the studio tanked financially? No fansubs, no raws, nothing. If you've got any info or, by a miracle, a copy, SHARE pls!

If it was really that legendary, wouldn't we have at least one cel or screenshot floating around? The internet's got everything. This smells like one of those Mandela Effect things. Just wait, next they'll say it predicted the future or something wild like that.

Sigh, 'Crystal Sakura,' I remember the buzz when it was announced. It's one of those tragic anime stories, art lost before its time. There's a beauty in the longing for it, don't you think? Like a legend that keeps us die-hard fans dreaming.

I specifically remember reading about 'Crystal Sakura' in an article printed in an early '90s anime fanzine. The studio, Tachibana Animation, went belly-up due to financial mismanagement. They produced a few stills and a promotional VHS for the OVA, never distributed widely. All employees were sworn to secrecy as part of their severance. The details are murky, but one director cited that most materials were disposed of. As of last year, there's no indication any footage survived the studio's collapse. I'll keep an eye out at the next collectors' meetup; someone's bound to know something more.

Isn't 'Crystal Sakura' the one with that legendary uncredited work by 'Akira’s' animators? I read a thread a while back that spoke about lost master tapes after a studio fire. Seems like everything around this OVA is shrouded in mystery. Wouldn't be surprised if it turned up in an attic somewhere in Japan, forgotten and gathering dust.

Dude, 'Crystal Sakura' is my white whale! Found mentions in old anime mags and even a program from a ’88 film festival that screened it. Never managed to find a copy, legit or otherwise. Heard rumors that a private collector in Osaka owns a reel, but no luck confirming that. I'll keep an eye out tho, this one's top of my list.

I've been digging through archives for 'Crystal Sakura' since I first heard about it. From what I gathered, the studio got into legal trouble for copyright infringement shortly after the release. The original prints might have been seized. Not sure if this helps, but it might explain why it's so rare.
