First choice: Wayback Machine. Second choice: Google Takeout. Third choice: File recovery software.

You guys ever come across those sketchy websites claiming to have all the deleted stuff? Spoiler: They don't. Tried it and almost got a virus. Stick to the legit methods, trust me.

Deleted videos can also be recovered with download managers. Tried Internet Download Manager on a deleted video and it worked.

IDM snagging a deleted vid sounds like a glitch in the matrix to me, heh. If you're serious about lost media, consider running your own archival system. Use Youtube-DL scripts to auto-download new videos from channels you care about. Keep ’em on a hard drive. Better safe than sorry!

Just adding my 2 cents - Google Takeout is kinda underrated. If you've ever interacted with a video like leaving a comment or adding it to a playlist, it might be listed in your Google data. No video, but you get the title, which is something. You could use it as a lead to track it down elsewhere.

While IDM might catch some videos if the deletion was recent and the video is still cached, it's not a reliable method for most deleted videos. Especially if it's been a while since deletion, the chances are the video's been purged from the cache servers. The Wayback Machine is a better long-term solution, as it takes snapshots. Always back up your favorite content, folks!

Just to add to the Google Takeout suggestion, remember you can only use that if it's your video or someone shared their data with you. If you had any interaction with the video like comments, there might be some references in your data archive. Long shot, but sometimes old emails notifications have direct links to videos that are still cached in Google's servers.

In my experience, the best way is to actually reach out to the community! There's always someone who has downloaded videos 'just in case'. Post a description of what you're looking for in forums, FB groups, or even Twitter. I've had good luck with this tactic!

File recovery software is unlikely to work for YouTube videos because they're stored online, not on your local machine. Unless you previously downloaded the video, those apps won't help. Also, don't forget about other online archives like Archive.is and Petey Vid, which could have snapshots of old videos.
