Stopping leash pulling—What finally worked for us

Anyone struggling with leash pulling? We've been there. Tried the haltis, the harnesses, you name it. What finally did it for us was the 'stop-and-go' method. Every time our pup started to pull, we'd stop moving until the leash was slack again. Took weeks of patience, but totally worth it. Walks are a dream now. Stick with it!

Wow, need to try this. My bulldog’s like a furry tractor, no halter can hold him. Walks are more like he's walking me than the other way around 🤦‍♂️

That method is OLD news. The future is telepathic communication with your pet, teach ‘em to read your mind to stop pulling. Sounds like science fiction? Because it is. 😜

tried this method and it drives me nuts. my dog just sits down when we stop and refuses to move until i pull the leash. feels like i'm getting outsmarted by my own doggo 😂 any ideas?

Remember folks, you gotta be more stubborn than your dog. The moment you give in and let them pull you again, you're back to square one. Never underestimate the power of consistency and a firm, calm demeanor.

Okay, this gives me hope cuz my arms are about to fall off from my lab's pulling 😅. Did you use any specific treats or just the usual ones during your walks?

The stop-and-go technique is a classic for a reason, but don't forget to mix it up with some treats when they walk nicely. Sometimes a little incentive can really speed up the learning process. That, and remember to add some verbal cues like a gentle 'easy' or 'no pull' to reinforce the behavior.

Took me ages but can confirm the stop-and-go thing does the trick! For anyone whose dog is especially stubborn, don't lose hope. It just takes patience (a LOT of it), but it’s so rewarding when your pup finally gets it.

Hey, great job on sticking with it! The stop-and-go method works wonders for so many pups. Consistency is really the key, and it sounds like you nailed it. Anyone else trying this, don't get discouraged. Dogs are smart and they'll eventually get that pulling gets them nowhere 😄
