Wi-Fi extenders - legit or nah?

Just moved to a new flat, internet company says there's a \'dead zone\'. They want to sell me a Wi-Fi extender, but I swear it feels like a scam. Anyone gone thru this?

Had a similar issue a while back. Bought the damn extender from the ISP and it barely made a difference. Wasted loads of cash. Don’t make my mistake.

Dead zone, my a**. They just want to make an extra buck. Test your coverage first before you shell out any cash.

I'm kinda new to this too... so if I get this extender thing, does it slow down my internet?

ISP's always try to upsell ya. If you need an extender, browse around for a good deal. Don't buy directly from them. You can get the same thing for cheaper from somewhere else.

There's nothing inherently scammy about WiFi extenders. They essentially create a second network that your devices can connect to when they're out of range of the original network. Very useful for larger properties.

That said, you gotta be sure that you actually need one before spending any money. Don't trust the ISPs to be honest on this. Check your flat properly, maybe walk around with a device to test the signal strength in different areas.

If you do decide to get one, do some research on your own. Lots of non-ISP options are gonna be cheaper and just as effective. Check brands like Netgear, TP-Link, etc. Make sure you're getting what's good for your specific situation instead of what's gonna make them the most money.

Lol, dude, you know you can also just move closer to your router, right? Problem solved, no scam. Unless you mean that you wanna browse the web from like... your neighbor's place or something. 🤣

Hey mate, long time lurker here. Had the same issue in my old place, got a Wi-Fi extender and it really helped. Didn't get it through my ISP though. Went with a cheaper one from Amazon. Worked like a charm.
