Didja know about honey? It never spoils!

So I just read somethin' wild - honey is the only food that literally never goes bad. They found honey in ancient Egyptian tombs and it was still good to eat after thousands of years. It's like it's own preservative because bacteria can't grow in it. Pretty sweet, huh? 😂

haha 'pretty sweet', I see what you did there... but seriously, doesn't this mean we should be eating honey instead of sugar? we’d all live forever, or were the ancient Egyptians onto something we don't know about? :P

Interesting but slightly misleading - honey can deteriorate, more in the sense of it can crystallize or the flavor can change over decades. Perfectly edible doesn't always mean perfectly delicious. The phenolic compounds in honey that contribute to its stability can also degrade over time, altering flavor and antioxidant properties.

Absolutely! Aside from not spoiling, honey is a powerhouse of antioxidants and has a bunch of health benefits. It's like a sweetener that's actually good for you if used in moderation of course. People even use it for skin care and wound healing!

Honey's anti-spoilage properties are mega fascinating! It's all about the science; honey has a low water activity level which makes it hostile to bacteria and yeast. Plus the bees adding enzymes that break down sugars into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide - natural antibacterials.

That's a cool fact, but not entirely true though. Honey can spoil if it's stored improperly, like if it gets water in it, then it could ferment. And about the tomb honey, while honey doesn't really spoil, that stuff probably wasn't fresh like it's from the supermarket shelves, just sayin'.

Yep, honey's pretty dope! It's because of how bees make it, super low moisture and the nectar gets turned into simple sugars. Plus, honey's natural acidity and the hydrogen peroxide stuff in it make it a no-go zone for bacteria. Nature's candy and medicine all in one!
