Dominant strategies in competitive gaming, worth relying on?

Any competitive gamers here? How often do you guys rely on dominant strategies when facing opponents? Sometimes I feel like switching it up just for the sake of unpredictability, even if I have a go-to move that always works. Thoughts?

New to this sub but been gaming competitively for a bit. I stick to the meta usually, but yeah, it feels awesome when you switch it up and it pays off. Makes the wins more satisfying—like you really outplayed em.

Man, forget dominant strategies sometimes. The real thrill is pulling off a win when you've been all unconventional and stuff. Keeps the game fun for me, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Just play how you like and shake it up when you feel like it.

The beauty of game theory in competitive gaming is that it's dynamic. If everyone knows your 'dominant' move, they'll start to work around it. Counterplay evolves over time. Smart play is about using your best strategy while also evolving it and playing mind games with your opponent. So yeah, mix it up when it feels right—keep 'em guessing!

I see where you're coming from with unpredictability, but in ranked play? I'd say stick with what gives you an edge, at least until it stops working. Then you gotta adapt or die—figuratively speaking, of course!

It's important to remember competitive gaming is a mental battlefield as much as it is about mechanical skill. Using the same strategy over and over can make you an easy target. Switching it up can throw off your opponent's game plan. That being said, don't ditch your dominant strategy if it's working, just be ready to adapt when someone figures out a counter.

Dominant strategies are 'dominant' for a reason—they work often and well. However, high-level play usually demands adaptability. Predictability is a significant drawback in competitive scenes, so it's crucial to have a couple of tricks or variations up your sleeve to catch opponents off-guard.

If you're up against the same players a lot, they're gonna start reading you like a book if you don't mix it up. Dominant strategies work until they don't, y'know? But in a tourney setting with unfamiliar faces? Spam that OP move 'til they make you stop, haha.
