Day 5 of My Sourdough Starter: The Journey Continues!

It's day 5 of my sourdough starter and we've got some serious action, folks! It's doubled in size and bubbling like a witch's cauldron. That yeasty smell is just intoxicating. Anyone else feel like their starter is a pet that you're way too attached to or just me? Will post pic updates and the first loaf results soon!

Aligning with the cosmos for the perfect bake, are we? 🌌 Haha. One tip for when you bake: oven spring is life, so make sure that dutch oven is preheated like the surface of the sun. It's like giving your bread a cozy, warm bed to explode in. Sounds like this is going to be one epic first loaf!

Watch out, those bubbles mean it's plotting to take over your kitchen. You wake up one morning and BAM! Sourdough monster's devoured your fridge. gg

That's what I love about sourdough... it's alive! Makes baking feel like a collaboration with nature. Harnessing those wild yeasts, am I right? Can't wait to see pics of your loaf!

Help! Mine is on day 5 too, and it's just a sad, goopy mess. Barely any bubbles. 😭 What's your secret? The ratio of flour to water? The type of flour?

It's totally like a pet! lol I started talking to mine and my SO says I've lost it. They just don't understand the bond 🍞❤️ To many more days of happy bubbling!

Doubled in size already? Not saying I don't believe you, but you sure it's not too warm where you're keeping it? Just be sure it's not just gas and actually yeast activity. Anyway, good for you if it's working out, I guess... 🤷

Fantastic progress for Day 5! Remember to keep that feeding schedule consistent now that your starter is active; it's like a hungry baby. Also, don't forget the float test before you make your first loaf. That'll tell you if it's really ready for prime time. Good luck!

Wow, your starter's action sounds awesome! Mine took like a week before it really started bubbling, I was so jealous of everyone with their super-active starters 😅 Can't wait to see your first loaf!
