Achieved the PERFECT char on my burgers today!

Okay folks, you know when you hit that sweet spot on the grill where the burgers get the crispiest, juiciest char without turning into hockey pucks? NAILED IT today and had to share! Kept the grill at a nice medium heat and didn't flip 'em more than once. Ain't nothing like that smoky, charred flavor, am I right??

Nice job! Although I'm a bit concerned about the whole char thing, isn't there something about carcinogens when meat gets too charred? I mean, I love the taste too, just always have that at the back of my mind. Any particular health tips you follow while grilling to balance it out?

Impressive achievement! There's actually a lot of food science behind what you did. Maillard reaction for the win! Flipping just once helps with even cooking -- keeps the juices in and really develops that crust we all love. You ever try any precise temperature monitoring methods or you just go by instinct?

Dude, that's awesome! As someone who's just getting into grilling myself, any tips on avoiding flare-ups? I've burned my share of burgers... it's a learning process lol.

That smoky flavor you're talking about? Nothing beats charcoal for that, IMHO. Gas grills don't even come close in the flavor department. You using briquettes or lump charcoal? And any specific seasoning you swear by?

Solid work on the char! How long did you let the patties rest before grilling? Also, you seasoned them just before throwing on the grill or awhile before?

Only flipped once? My uncle says you gotta flip every 15 seconds for the perfect crust. But what does he know... he thinks medium-rare is burnt. 🤣

I'm all for plant-based burgers, but can't resist a good grilling tip! It's all about the technique, right? Props to ya! Maybe one day you'll share how you achieve that but with a veggie patty lol.

Heck yeah! Nailing the perfect char is what it's all about. Got any pics to make us drool, or what? Also, what's your setup? I swear by my cast-iron grates for the best sear marks.
