Shady Travel Site Prices

Hey folks, so I recently picked up some plane tickets on this site, right? The prices looked awesome – $50 off any flight to New York. Snagged myself a sweet deal and all was well. Or so I thought. Turns out, that was just the price for the 'booking fee'. Actual ticket cost was buried somewhere in their T&Cs. Essentially, they were charging full price, but the booking fee discount made it look like a deal. Such BS, right?

Yikes. That's rough, buddy. Hope your trip to NY still rocks, though!

This sounds like deceptive pricing. Consider filing a complaint with the FTC; they take this stuff very seriously.

Years back, found this awe-inspiring 'free trip to Fiji' offer. La-di-da, after 15 pages of convoluted T&C’s, realized they'd bill me an insane 'processing fee' that cost more than a typical Fiji flight. Talk about being dunked into the deep end!

Hah! Welcome to the Big Apple, where everything costs more than it seems. Prepare for a ripoff in every corner!

100% BS, dude. Got tricked once like this with a 'Free Wifi' offer on a train ticket. Turns out it was only free for the first 15 mins!

Hey folks, airline industry professional here. This is indeed a terrible practice, but sadly more common than you'd think. It's called a 'drip pricing' strategy where they lure you in with a low base fare, only to add mandatory additional charges later on (such as booking fees or check-in fees), thus inflating the actual price you end up paying. Legally, they might argue everything is stated in the T&Cs but clearly, it's deceptive. As consumers, we should push back against these unethical practices by avoiding such websites and subsequently reporting them.

Ah mate, classic swindle! Loads of these websites pull this crap. Avoid dodgy lookin' sites n' stick to the legit ones. Skyscanner’s my go-to. Always cross-check prices and read the fine print.
