Engaging thoughts on the role of media as a 'mask'. I'm an academic studying pop culture. Yes, TV shows indeed utilize recurring symbols & tropes to evoke emotions. But, it's generally a part of the creative process & not linked to conspiracies per se. However, it's worth noting that art & reality do have a reflective relationship - one often fuels & shapes the other.
