Phone Book Furniture? Just No.

Someone decided stacking phone books and shellacking them makes a 'sturdy' chair. Took 1 week, dozens of books, and nearly a gallon of shellac. Now there's just a wobbly deathtrap in my living room. Newspapers are good for one thing: reading, then recycling!

The ambition is great, but stability is key in furniture. Structurally speaking, phone books aren't meant to withstand that kind of stress. If you’re set on reusing books, maybe try a side table where aesthetics trump functionality. Also, always do a wiggle test before letting any furniture into your living space.

I'm all for DIY but... why would you do that to yourself? Got a thing for living life on the edge? Literally? Next time maybe try a project that's more chill...

Not gonna lie, seeing 'dozens of books' and 'nearly a gallon of shellac' used like that hurts the earth-lover in me. Recycling would've been the real MVP here, friend.

Shellac’s expensive, those books could've gone to a paper mache club. Now u got yourself a 'unique' piece no one can touch. Hope it at least looks good from a distance! 😆

Stacks of phone books as a chair, huh? Kinda retro, I dig the vintage vibe but not the ER trip waiting to happen. Next time slap those books on a shelf and call it 'nostalgia'.

Yikes, sounds hazardous. I get the whole upcycle trend but maaaybe stick to materials that are meant to handle weight? Just looking out for your tailbone dude, take care.

As much as I'm all for upcycling, maybe phone books just ain't the right material? I'd reserve the shellac for preserving something a bit less... phonebook-y? Try something more solid next time, like old wood scraps or smth. Still, props for the effort!

Honestly sounds like a missed opportunity for modern art. Call it 'The Perilous Perch' or 'A Commentary on Obsolete Knowledge'. Might as well, since no one’s gonna risk sitting on it! 😂
