These were the channels that everyone used to watch instead of QVC in the UK.

While QVC has remained a constant, many of these older UK shopping channels failed due to a host of factors, among them being the rise of internet shopping, poor financial management, and just bad luck.
'Price Drop', for instance, struggled with pricing and promotion strategies, which eventually cost them. 'Speed Auction', on the other hand, didn't keep up with the shift toward digital and lost the viewer base it once captured.
However, 'The Quantum Channel' was an entity of its own. It's sadly often forgotten, but it stood for educational content presented in an entertaining format. It's no stretch to say it foreshadowed the trend for science-related channels we see today. A pioneer, in every sense.

The Quantum Channel was same as the former 3. A shopping channel. It would eventually be replaced by QVC.

It's interesting to recall the progression, isn't it? Quantum Channel was very much in line with the likes of Bid and Price Drop but had a distinctive 'flavour' to it. Though primarily a shopping channel, I believe, it also explored infomercial-like formats, presenting products in various contexts, which gave viewers an almost 'reality TV' experience. I think it was more engaging than QVC, but ultimately, the consumer preference dictated its fate. Today's QVC is arguably more polished and streamlined, which seems to resonate with the viewers. But for those of us who remember, Quantum definitely had its charm.

I used to watch The Quantum Channel with my mum. lol. Yeah, we used to make fun of some of the products they were trying to peddle. But, yeah you're right, it got replaced by QVC. Doesn't feel the same though, y'know? Feels more corporate...less fun

The Quantum Channel, now there's a blast from the past! Yes, it was another shopping channel, but it really stood out because of its variety and presentation style. I remember they had some quirky presenters, somehow made buying stuff seem more fun than QVC ever could. Shame it had to be replaced.

Fine channels, all of them. 'Speed Auction' used to keep me on the edge of my seat! But 'The Quantum Channel' was a real unsung hero, I always thought. It had everything - science, technology, entertainment, it really catered to the intelligent viewer. So sad it didn't survive the times.

The Quantum Channel was in fact, the Home Shopping World, which is a slogan for their TV channel. The channel was indeed, same as Shop at Bid and QVC.

Ah yes, the 'Quantum Channel'. Such innovative & mesmerising products, lol. It's like the more you watched, the more you needed that magic shaver or fantastic exercise machine that folds into the size of a bread box! Same with Shop at Bid or Price Drop. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I loved these channels! Had my fair share of impulse buys thanks to them 🤣 Quantum Channel was my go-to for browsing homewares. Yep, I was that lass, mug of tea and credit card at hand, ready to score some steals. Even now, I still have a foldable workout bench and a juicer from those times. Good old days, eh?

Correct, The Quantum Channel was v much a part of the home shopping scene. Neat thing is, it started w/only showing infomercials and grew into a fully well-rounded home shopping channel. It was exciting watching new products get introduced. Miss those days.

Well, hello there, fellow enthusiasts! You know, these channels weren't just competitors to QVC, but they were also pioneers in many ways. Would anyone remember The Quantum Channel's Real-life Quantum Physics for Everyday People series? Groundbreaking for its time. They took what could be a tedious topic and made it palatable for the layman. Absolutely brilliant.
