£1 per call to guess the obvious answer, genius! Cant believe folks fell for that. Also, Quizmania, Jet Set 2012 (wtf even was that show?!), The Mint, Glitterball... absolute TV gold!* 😉

ITV Play, Quizmania, The Mint... These shows set the bar for TV-based viewer interaction, no doubt. Were they exploitative? Sure. But they also captured the essence of late-night viewing back then. Weird, wacky, yet wildly entertaining. That's what TV should be, not the generic, scripted reality shows we get today.

mate, folks fell for ITV Play 'cause it was genius, but in a snake-oil salesman kinda way. Easy, mundane trivia, a simple call-in, and the prospect of cash prizes - all the necessary ingredients for late night TV gold (or scam). And Glitterball, with that spinning lottery ball machine... man, that was something else. 🤣

ITV Play, yeah? Ah, the days when interactive TV was the go-to late night entertainment. As for Jet Set 2012, it was a sort of a lottery-style game show, if I remember right. Contestants were put through physical challenges and quizzes to win a spot on the weekly Jet Set destination. Weird concept, but strangely entertaining.
