Anyone's school had Channel One News playing in the classroom? That 12-minute news broadcast for teens was like my daily educational dose lol. Anderson Cooper and Lisa Ling were on that before they got big. Now that's history! Wondering how many schools still got something like that or if it's just YouTube these days.

Channel One News had quite an impact on media literacy education. While no longer airing, it laid groundwork for many educational news programs. I lecture on media studies and it's fascinating to see its legacy. Today, educators must navigate a complex media landscape to encourage critical thinking. If anyone's interested, I can recommend several peer-reviewed studies on the topic and its evolution in the classroom setting.

Oh wow, blast from the past with Channel One News. I remember how legit it felt to watch actual journalists in school. It did start my day on an informed note, wonder if it shaped my love for news now... It’s sad to think that the closest thing kids today have is probably influencers spinning headlines on social media. Nothing against YouTube, it has potential, but so much disinfo out there.

huh, Channel One News, right... 😒 not sure if we really needed that. Most of it went over our heads tbh. Too early in the morning for deep stories for most of us. Plus, there were always debate how it was like low-key advertising with all those commercials. Get why it faded out.

Actually, Channel One News was discontinued a few years back. Schools moved on to a variety of platforms, some subscribe to educational news services, and others encourage students to follow reputable news sources online. In my professional experience, YouTube, podcasts, and social media play big roles now. Teens are engaging with current events more interactively, but teachers still have to guide them to ensure the info is accurate and age-appropriate.

Oh man, Channel One News was the best. They really knew how to break down complex issues in ways that stuck with me. I still remember their coverage of major events, very eye-opening for a teen. And yes, Anderson Cooper was a host back then! Now, I think schools use a mix, some still have programs like Channel One, others just rely on online resources. Multimedia learning and all. Times change, but it'd be cool if today's students had a similar daily news ritual.

Totally remember Channel One News! My homeroom teacher used to play it every morning. It was actually pretty cool seeing what was going on in the world, made me feel super grown-up. They had some solid reporting for a classroom TV show. Don't think they play it anymore, everything’s online now. Kids probably watch news on TikTok or something lol
