A tribute to Toys ‘R’ Us – Geoffrey, we miss you

I can’t walk by a toy section without getting hit with a megawave of nostalgia for Toys ‘R’ Us. That was THE palace as a kid. Floor-to-ceiling toys, games, those mini Jeeps you wished you could drive home. RIP Geoffrey the Giraffe, no one's childhood should be without you. I bet half of us wouldn’t be the same without those epic toy runs.

Toys ‘R’ Us didn’t just sell toys, it was a cultural phenomenon. Geoffrey the Giraffe became an icon of childhood joy. It's sad to think of all the now-adults who will tell tales of this 'mythical' place where toys ruled and how the glittering isles shaped their fondest childhood moments.

I get why Toys ‘R’ Us was cool and all, but can we talk about the chaos of holiday shopping there? Like a lawless wasteland! Online shopping isn’t as magical, but it sure saves my sanity.

Went to Toys ‘R’ Us for the first time just to buy a Gameboy Color, and it was the best day of my life. Can't believe new generations won't know what it's like to see those shelves full of brand new handhelds. #nostalgiaoverload

Toys ‘R’ Us? Pffft… More like Toys ‘R’ Bust amirite??? 😂 Kids today got iPads and drones, who needs a giraffe to tell them what's cool?!

They don’t make em like that anymore. Used to charge down those aisles to grab the latest action figures. I can still hear the jingle in my head... 'I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys 'R' Us kid...' Hits me right in the feels every time.

Toys ‘R’ Us had the best exclusives back in the day. Remember their video game section? I'd spend hours just staring at the games, reading the backs of the boxes. Now I collect retro toys, stuff I first saw there. Wish the next gen could experience that.

Honestly tho, kids today are missing out. Clicking a button just isn’t the same as running through those aisles with glee. I try to tell my kid about Geoffrey and the feeling of being in a toy heaven, but it's just not the same with all the digital alternatives today.

Man, do I miss the big Toys 'R' Us stores. Was like Disneyland for us '90s kids. Just the smell when walking in was like candy for the brain. Online shopping just doesn't have the same magic, you know?
