How To Help The Hedgehogs In Your Garden

Love our spiky friends and wanna help 'em out? Leave some areas of your garden wild, pile up leaves, or make a hedgehog highway by cutting small holes at the bottom of your fences. Oh, and cat food is like a feast for them – but no milk, it's bad for their tums!

This! And something often overlooked – check your drains and gulleys. Hedgehogs are curious and can easily fall in and get trapped. Cover them up with something sturdy.

Didn’t know about the milk, so thanks for sharing! My kids are gonna be over the moon with this backyard wildlife project. :)

I've got an app on my phone that tracks hedgehogs! And for anyone who's worried about hurting them when doing garden work: always check your garden waste before setting it alight or strimming long grass. Hedgehogs can hide in there.

Spot on advice, mate. Hedgehogs are crucial for controlling garden pests naturally. One thing to add: consider building or buying a hedgehog house as a safe retreat. Also, keep a shallow water dish out – they get thirsty, and it's a lifeline during hot weather.

Oh I love this! We’ve got a few lil hoggies in our garden. Been leaving leaves and logs piled up in the back corner, never thought about the highway though. I'll give it a go this weekend.

Great post, really highlight the important stuff. Another tip, set up a small hedgehog feeding station with a covered box to keep the cat food dry – this can really help them, especially during drier spells when their natural food becomes harder to find.
