Gotta throw 'Ren & Stimpy' into the mix. That show had some deeply unsettling and gross-out moments that, looking back, were super weird for a kids' cartoon. 'Happy Happy Joy Joy' still plays in the back of my mind in the most haunting way possible.

Ah, you're all missing out on the real golden oldie, 'Children of the Stones'. Think sinister villages, creepy rituals and a whole lotta weird science going on. It's a 70s show, but it's aged like a fine wine of creepiness. Worth a watch if you can find it.

Most definitely 'The Animals of Farthing Wood'. It was marketed as this cute animal adventure but was seriously dark and intense. Animals died left and right, and it was quite the emotional rollercoaster for a kid. Had to watch some episodes from behind a cushion.

oh man, don't get me started. Anyone remember The Demon Headmaster? That show used to leave me hiding behind the sofa. Kids with glowing eyes and all that mind control stuff, pure nightmare fuel that was. And that theme music? Still gives me the chills.

Does anyone remember 'Trumpton'? They had a fire brigade but somehow it seemed super sinister. The way they marched and the music...gave me the creeps every time.

Even Camberwick Green and Chigley the train.

Have to chime in – the whole Trumptonshire series! There's something about the inanimate expressions and jerky movements of old stop-motion that can feel quite unsettling. It’s funny considering they were the height of kids' TV entertainment. The simplicity and routine in those shows contrast so starkly with today’s fast-paced, high-tech stuff. No wonder it sticks in the mind, it's like watching another world where time ticks differently.

I reckon it's the music in them shows that's a bit uncanny, like it's too cheerful or something. And them characters with their blank stares... I swear they're plotting something when the camera's not on them. That said, I’d still watch 'em over half the stuff that’s on telly these days lol

Oof, yeah, Camberwick Green has that eerie stop-motion that sets the teeth on edge. It's the pacing too, feels like anything could jump out while Windy Miller is taking his sweet time milling about. Chigley's train always seemed a bit ghostly to me, don't know if it's the whistle or what. Still, proper classics!

Anyone else remember 'Jeepers Creepers'? Not the movie, the TV series with that weird host. The whole vibe was just unsettling, couldn't ever figure out if it was meant to scare kids or entertain them, ended up doing a bit of both I reckon.

If you've never seen 'Children of the Stones', you haven't experienced true eeriness. It's a 70s show, seriously ahead of its time, full of pagan rituals and all sorts of strangeness that gets under your skin. Still holds up as one of the creepiest kids shows ever made in the UK.

nothing can compare to the bizarre horror of 'The Demon Headmaster'. Like, seriously, what were they thinking with that one? Imagine having a headmaster who just hypnotizes the pupils to do his bidding. That's some next-level school anxiety.

My kids watch 'Peppa Pig' and sure it's cute or whatever but there's this one episode with Mr. Skinnylegs the spider, and it's meant to teach kids spiders are our friends, but honestly, it gives ME the heebie-jeebies, spiders are a no from me, thanks.
