Anyone remember 'Jossy’s Giants'? Football and comedy, proper northern vibe and pretty much a documentary of my younger footie days 😂

Can’t believe you're all missing out on 'Button Moon'. We're off to Button Moon, follow Mr. Spoon, Button Moon!! Sounds like a fever dream now, but we all watched a show about a family living on a freaking BUTTON!

My mates swear 'Jamie and the Magic Torch' was the biz back in the day with the trippy theme tune and talking dog. Didn't catch it myself, but sounds like an acid trip in kids' show form?

Pffft, obviously you lot haven't seen 'Bertha'! Big factory machine that could make anything and the wonky things it popped out. Tell me that wasn't the height of creativity (or weirdness).

'Chocky' was mind-bending for its time—an alien entity talking to a kid and all that. It was based on a John Wyndham novel and was way more intellectual than the usual fare on telly for kids. Blew my socks off as a child and wouldn’t be out of place in a line-up of adult science fiction to be honest.

‘Round the Bend!’ Literally a series set in a sewer complete with Doc Croc and his media empire, and it had such a bizarre sense of humor. Would come on and parents just didn't get it but I lived for it!

Who remembers the 'The Trap Door'? Total madness with monsters, claymation and all sorts going on every episode. Was proper weird but couldn't stop watching it 🤣

Mine was The Shoe People, because...you know, talking shoes.

Ahh, The Shoe People! That was quality, wasn't it? They don't make 'em like that anymore. I swear kids' TV was way better when we were young. Now it's all flash and no substance. Those shows had heart, and they weren't afraid to be a bit bonkers. Chalky, the tennis shoe, always got himself into some sort of bother and it was hilarious. Loved it!

Also Charlie Chalk.

"He's a wacky way of walking and a wacky way of chalking!".

Oh wow, all this talk of Charlie Chalk has me buzzin'. The whole lot on Merrytwit Island were like one big mad family. Not to mention, it was such a calm, relaxing show, perfect for quiet afternoons after school. And tbh I much preferred the slow-paced story-telling in them days compared to the frenetic energy of modern cartoons.

Charlie Chalk? More like Charlie Boring. I could never get into it. Give me something with a bit more action! I'll stick to Thundercats, at least things exploded in that!

There was a certain charm to Charlie Chalk, wasn't there? It's from the same bloke who made Postman Pat and Rosie and Jim. You can really tell the quality in the stop-motion animation and character design. As for the writing, it was whimsical yet had a subtle depth that even adults could appreciate. They don’t produce kids’ shows with that level of craftsmanship much these days.

Can't believe someone else remembers Charlie Chalk! Always found it a bit trippy to be honest, but in a good way. That elephant was something else, lol. The music was catchy too. Just humming the tune makes me feel like a kid again.

If you think The Shoe People was weird, you've clearly never seen Round the Bend. Now that was something else. A show set in a sewer hosted by a crocodile? And those spoof adverts were nothing short of genius. 80s and 90s kid shows were on another level of strange and imaginative, that's for sure.

Talking shoes? Seems like telly execs would throw literally any idea at the wall back then. I mean, what was the pitch meeting like for that one? 'You know what kids love? Shoes. But not just any shoes - these ones have faces and opinions!' Mad.

Oh mate, The Shoe People was a total trip! Remember when Trampy the shoe couldn't sort his life out? And the tunes, proper catchy like. Had me humming for days, it did.

Gotta be 'Knightmare' for me. Kids roaming around dungeons with a giant helmet on, totally oblivious to the creepy creatures and traps. It's like they invented VR before it was a thing. Ahead of its time or what!

Let's not forget 'Button Moon', with Mr Spoon and that tin can rocket of his. Surreal stuff, gluing buttons to a backdrop and calling it space. But tell me why I still hum the theme tune when I'm making breakfast?

Every 80's show was weird, mate. Kids nowadays won't ever get the terror we felt watching 'The Singing Ringing Tree'. Like, cheers for the nightmares, telly.

You can't have a convo about weird 80s kids' shows without mentioning 'Jamie and the Magic Torch'! That one was trippy as hell with the kid sliding down a rainbow into some mad world every night. What were the writers on?!

How about 'Chocky'? It was weird as... you know. Kid with an alien friend only he can see. Standard 80s fare but kinda out there looking back at it now.

One of the strangest yet fascinating series that's often overlooked is 'Children of the Stones'. It's this eerie, supernatural drama set in a village surrounded by these prehistoric stones, and things just get weirder from there. The series boasted an intriguing plot and had a haunting theme tune that stuck with you. It’s one of those shows that seemed too mature for its intended audience but somehow managed to capture the essence of 80s TV.

omg has anyone else here seen 'Round the Bend'? Absolutely barmy show with those toilet humour jokes, literally! Can't believe what we got away with watching as kids 🤣

Anyone remember 'The Trap Door'? That blue blob thing used to give me nightmares, but it was a proper weird kids' show. Couldn't miss an episode, the clay animation was mental!
