Bluey - an in-depth review

Bluey mates, it's hands-down the absolute gem of CBeebies current lineup.

For the uninitiated, it's this Australian show about a 6-year-old Blue Heeler pup named Bluey, and her day-to-day imaginary adventures with her younger sister, Bingo, and their folks. But it ain't just a show about imaginations running wild. It's much more.

Characters – Solid as a rock. Bluey is a bundle of joy, untamed imagination, and kid-like energy. Bingo, a wee bit more reserved, gives the perfect balance and dynamics. And the Mum and Dad – they're not some side characters you see in many kiddo's shows. They're right there – part of the adventures, and often even the instigators.

Storylines - Each episode feels fresh like a breath of morning air. Yeah, it's got the usual elements – playing doctor, school, exploring cubic distances (!), but it's all with such warmth, humour, and Aussie charm, you just can't help but smile. Plus, they tackle some tough little issues like sharing, sibling rivalry, and patience in a way kids can learn without feeling stuffy.

Animation – Lovingly crafted. Colourful, playful, with that sorta soft watercolor touch. Gives off a smooth, calm feel. Iconic landmarks of Brisbane too! Brilliant eyecandy for kids, I'd say.

Most episodes have a little lesson at the end, and I love that the lessons aren't always just for the kiddos, but for parents too. Reminds us to be patient, to listen, spend quality time with our little ones, and basically not lose our adult heads amidst all the chaos. Kudos to the creators!

If you're not already watching Bluey, you and your wee ones seriously need to catch up, won't regret it, promise.

Just started watching this with my daughter and boy, I'm hooked. Each episode is just 7 minutes, but leaves us with a wide smile and some food for thought. More power to such shows!

As an Aussie, I appreciate the little nuances I can relate to, they nailed everything from a typical Australian child's imagination to the local features of Brisbane. And no, it's not just the accent guys! 🇦🇺

Okay, but is it just me or is the dad a bit too involved? Like, get a life maybe? 😆

As a new viewer, I started this show for my son but I ended up being more invested. It's such a relief not having to skip scenes or mute unnecessary noise. Bluey is indeed a gem. Parenting lessons are a major bonus!

A shoutout to our little unsung hero Bingo! She is the true MVP. She complements Bluey exceptionally, providing the necessary maturity and subtlety to Bluey's boundless energy and zesty spirit.

A detailed review! Well put. The animation quality of Bluey is really commendable. Also, it's not often that the cityscapes and environments in cartoon shows are faithfully represented. The fact that they highlight Brisbane is another feather in their cap. It employs clean but vivid colours with just the right amount of shading, which complements the storytelling.

Can't agree more with your review. The sheer creativity of Bluey's storylines is what makes it so endearing to me. And don't forget the music? I can't be the only one to absolutely adore the soundtracks, right?
