Lunch orders with brown paper bags

Getting a lunch order was legit the best part of primary school. Bring in your brown paper bag with some coins, maybe a sausage roll or meat pie, and then waiting for it with your classmates. Those bags were magic. Your name and order scrawled on them and maybe a juice box inside. Kept it simple, kept us happy!

Brown paper bags are eco-friendly compared to plastic wrapping you see today. Funny how the simple, sustainable stuff was also the most enjoyable. Hope we bring back something similar for future kids!

Darn, those were the days. We learned life skills too—how to count change, budget, and the anticipation taught us patience! Wish more schools would keep this tradition alive instead of pushing tech onto everything.

Honestly thought those brown bags had some Hogwarts vibes—how'd they always get my order just right? And where'd my change go? 🤔🧙‍♂️

Lunch orders in brown bags have quite the history in Australia. It was a simple system that developed in the post-war era when more mums started working, and school canteens popped up. A pragmatic solution for a changing society while still being a cherished ritual!

Sausage rolls were the best!! Dunk them in some tomato sauce, and you're sorted. Brown bag lunch order day meant an epic feast compared to my boring sandwiches. Hopefully, schools still do them!

Man, that brought back memories. If I remember right, you could get a pie for like 50 cents! Inflation's done a number since those days. I always tried to sneak in as much change as possible to get an extra cookie.

Haha, those bags were magical but the work behind the scenes was something else! We had to sort hundreds of those bags each morning, but the kids' excitement made it all worth it. Sometimes I'd slip a little extra treat into a bag as a surprise. 😉

Ahh the brown bag lunch orders! The rush of peeking inside to see if you got that choccy milk box was unmatched. And don't forget the mini strawberries & cream cups, best treat ever.
