Which beach has the best waves?

G'day surf mates, just wondering which beach you reckon has the best swell right now? I'm planning a trip from Brissy down to Byron and keen to hit some gnarly waves along the way. Any spots to avoid, or ones to definitely check out?

I went through there last summer, and Cabarita Beach was pretty chill. Not super crowded, even on a weekend. A hidden gem that deserves a spot on the itinerary.

Using Windy app to track conditions, Burleigh Heads is lining up nicely this week. Swell’s inbound and should peak mid-week. Avoid after-school hours though, it gets packed with the afterwork crowd.

Yewww, got to check out Currumbin Alley for some epic rides. Hit it early though, the crowd can be gnarly AF!

Byron main beach can be fun, but it's got nothing on Wategos when the swell is right. Plus, you can't beat the view. Just be mindful of the rips and respect the locals. Welcome to Byron!

You think you can handle the Aussie waves, mate? Better to stick to the kiddie pool 😂

Honestly, mate, all beaches have their days. I'd say skip the crowds and hit up some hidden gems. Northern NSW has some lesser-known spots that deliver kook-free rides if you know where to look 😉

If you're headed from Brissy to Byron, Snapper Rocks is a must if you're keen on some world-class waves – provided you don't mind sharing them with a few dozen good mates! Further south, Lennox Head can be epic on the right day. Avoid the Goldie on weekends, it's a circus 🎪
