Does anyone know about this obscure UK channel?

As a television archivist, I can tell you Granada Talk TV was part of an experimental phase by many broadcasters during the digital switchover in the UK. It tried to draw viewers in with personality-led shows and interviews, but ended up being quite bland. Many of these channels shut down or rebranded, and Granada was no exception.

Ah, Granada Talk TV was essentially part of Granada Sky Broadcasting, a joint venture between Granada Television and British Sky Broadcasting. The channel was launched around 1996 and was available on the Sky Digital platform.
It mainly featured unscripted chat and interviews, often involving celebrities and notable figures of the time. The programming was a bit 'low-budget' compared to its counterpart, and the lack of compelling content led to its eventual demise around '98. In its place, Granada Breeze was launched, however, which mainly focused on lifestyle and shopping.
It's a common story really - in the early days of digital television in the UK, broadcasters were throwing all sorts of channels at the wall to see what would stick. Granada Talk TV was just one of many that didn't survive the turn of the millennium.

Granada Talk TV! That brings back some memories. It was indeed a fairly obscure digital channel that was active in the mid to late 90s. It was the result of Granada Sky Broadcasting's efforts to diversify its content. Featured a lot of talking-head interviews and documentaries. Didn't last too long, as it couldn't compete with the more popular reality and entertainment channels of the time.
