Does anyone remember Awareness TV?

They launched in 2008 and they only broadcasted footage of fish with music from 6 AM to 8 PM. It aired on Sky. It was an awful channel. Glad it got closed.

In fact, it was the first ever promotional channel.

OMG! I had completely forgotten about Awareness TV. Such a unique concept, honestly. But yeah, also grateful it's over. Gotta appreciate the part it played in shaping promotional channels, though.

Ugh, I remember trying to ID songs from the background while watching that endless marine parade. They had some decent tracks, I'll give them that.

Remember it? I had repressed Awareness TV until now! All that fish... weird concept. Weird channel.

Lol, never heard of it. Sounds like an oddball channel though! 🐟📺

Yes, Awareness TV! A peculiar blip in television history. It was one of the first experimentations into a purely visual format channel, though its execution left much to be desired. One important aspect to note: as an early promotional channel, it led the way for better executed channels like QVC. A fascinating, if somewhat eccentric, piece of broadcasting innovation!

I know right! Why were they showing fish for 14 hours a day? I guess the music was okay, but who sat there watching it?

Haha, I was actually working at Sky when Awareness TV came on board. It's weird to think of it as a historical footnote now. You couldn't really compare it to the current promotional channels. It was like something out of a spoof movie. I remember they were super committed to their theme of 'soothing fish footage'.
