DYK that there were Welch's jelly jars?

The jelly jars were used to eat as much jelly as possible. After everything was eaten, it would be used for drinking your favorite drinks, like Minute Maid or even Coca-Cola.

Not only did I remember using the jars for drinking, but also for serving desserts - perfect for individual puddings or fruit salads. Those jars were actually a quite versatile addition to our kitchen, wish I had kept some!

Actually, those jars were officially referred to as collectible 'glassware'. The concept was intended to extend the life of the product beyond its initial use and it was a huge part of their marketing strategy. They had all sorts of designs, the most popular ones being cartoon characters. And Welch's wasn't the only one doing it, Smucker's had a similar line too.

Collector here, you won't believe how much some of these can go for now. Especially if they're still in good condition. Like the ones with the Flintstones or Tom and Jerry, fetch a pretty penny on eBay. Who would've thought jelly jars would become collectibles, right?

Oh dude, totally remember those! My folks used to get the grape jelly, and then after that stuff was gone, I'd fill it up with some root beer and drink straight from it. Those were the days man.
